How a rebuild works with private-client insurance like Chubb or PURE
Private-client policies are often written around restoring a home to its original quality. The rebuild should be documented to match.
What is often different
Carriers such as Chubb, PURE, Cincinnati Insurance, AIG Private Client, Vault and Nationwide Private Client often write policies built around restoring your home with materials of like kind and quality. Many include broader Additional Living Expense coverage. Your exact policy decides, so read the declarations and ask your adjuster.
Document the original quality
For a high-value home, the most important step happens before demolition: recording exactly what was there.
- Plaster or drywall, and the plaster type where it can be identified.
- Millwork profiles, measured and photographed.
- Stone type and finish, tile and grout details.
- Hardwood species, width and finish.
- Fixtures, hardware and appliance models.
Matching
When part of a continuous surface is damaged, a patch may not match the rest. Whether matching undamaged areas is covered depends on your policy. Good documentation lets your adjuster see what a proper match requires.
Discretion on site
Fine homes deserve a quiet, tidy site: floor and furniture protection, no signs on the lawn unless you want them, and a clean-up at the end of each day.
